Former Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he supported two players leaving the team to pursue Olympic dreams.

Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be without E. Bailly and Amad of the Ivory Coast for the next few weeks as a result of their participation in competitions for their respective countries (the United squad had a solid showing at both Euro 2020 and the Copa America).
The reason for this is that both of them will be representing their country in the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympic campaign.
After the Ivory Coast was knocked out of the Tokyo Olympics in the quarterfinals, Eric E. Bailly expressed his sadness by saying, “I’m heartbroken.”
E. Bailly, who plays for Manchester United, was instrumental in both goals in Spain’s 5-2 win over the Ivory Coast in overtime.
E. Bailly scored the first goal when he bundled in a corner kick, but he messed up when he played in Dani Olmo for Spain’s equaliser in the 93rd minute, and Rafa Mir scored a penalty kick.
The defender in the middle then gave up a penalty in overtime when he foolishly handled the ball during a corner kick, allowing Spain to take a 3-2 lead.
When asked about the game on Instagram afterward, E. Bailly said: “Depressed because of being wiped out. We fought as hard as we could. I’m excited to be a part of a team that will soon bring even more joy to our nation. We’ll give it another go at some point.”

Amad, a club teammate of E. Bailly’s who entered in the 63rd minute of the previous game against Germany, entered the game. Against Saudi Arabia and Brazil, Amad was a starter for the group’s first two games.
Due to quarantine regulations, E. Bailly and Amad are unlikely to be ready for United’s last preseason friendly against Everton at Old Trafford next week.
