The pair’s silver at Sochi in 2014 and gold at PyeongChang in 2018 solidified their position as the most decorated ice dancers in history.

In addition to their medal haul, Canada’s sweethearts created waves in the skating world with their innovative, emotionally driven routines and undeniable chemistry on the rink.

A video made by Moir showed the couple skating around the rink with a simple “Thank you,” and a love heart superimposed on the screen as the closing statement.

At the Same Time, the Tweet was Published to Both of their Accounts:

Scott announces to the audience, “Hi everybody, we have some news for everyone, for all of our fans, for all of those who have supported us; it’s a little bit emotional so bear with us…”

“We didn’t know how to tell you, but I believe the best approach for us is to go where we’re most comfortable,” says Moir.

In perfect synchrony with Scott, Tessa explains, “This is home for us;” the two have spent 22 years “coasting around the outside of the rink, hanging out together, producing programmes, and trying to just absorb in our sporting experience.”

In her own words, “after 22 years, it feels like the perfect time to break away from the sport,” Virtue has decided to retire. “What we’re going through right now is deeply personal and touching for both of us.

Please know how much your gratitude is appreciated. How very fortunate we are to have experienced this with one another and with all of you.”

Skating Together For 22 Years, Virtue, Now 30, and Moir, Now 32, have Become Great Friends.

Even though his retirement from competitive skiing after the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games was widely speculated, the official news didn’t come until Tuesday, September 17th, 2019.

Twenty-two years, and it’s been — I can’t put that into words,” Moir says in the video. This is my first selfie video, and I’m not going to cry because of it.

Popular Canadian Brands Scott and Moir may have retired from competition skating after winning gold at Vancouver 2010, but they will continue to perform on the rink in shows.

They are currently getting ready to embark on a tour across Canada called Rock the Rink, which will kick out in Abbotsford, British Columbia on October 5 and wrap up in St. John’s, Newfoundland on November 23.

They Leave Competitive Skating With a Total of Five Olympic Medals Between Them:

a gold in ice dance from the 2010 Vancouver Games, silver in ice dance and team figure skating from the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and gold in ice dance and silver in team figure skating from the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.
