Swimming at the Summer Olympics – 1500 Metre Freestyle: Women’s Final 2020
Ledecky was the odds-on favourite to win the first-ever Olympic 1500-meter freestyle event for women, and she did not disappoint, winning by more than four seconds and earning a silver medal for the United States behind teammate Erica Sullivan, who made a remarkable return to finish second.

Despite not placing in the 200-meter freestyle final, Ledecky quickly rebounded to win her sixth gold medal of the Olympics. She needs just two more golds to tie Jenny Thompson (8) for the most ever won by an American woman at the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Sullivan gave her all in the last laps of the exhausting 1500. The 20-year-old made her move after posting splits between 31.56 and 32.01 during the first 500 metres, moving from fifth to second position in just 250 metres with splits hovering around 31.03.
When Ledecky saw Sullivan cross the finish line just behind her, she lost it after having won the race so calmly just seconds before.
