The snatch lift was the first event of the women’s tournament, and on her third try, 21-year-old Srisurat set a new Olympic record by lifting 110 kg.
After the first lift format, Srisurat had a lead of eight kilos over her colleague Pimsiri Sirikaew, who lifted 102 kilogrammes. For more information about the Weightlifting at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women’s 53 Kg. Reading below.

If two or more lifters in a certain weight class achieve the same level of achievement, the lifters are ranked according to their respective body masses. Sirikaew here just behind her competitor by 460 grammes in weight.
Maria Alexandra Escobar Guerrero of Ecuador and Yuderqui Maridalia Contreras of the Dominican Republic tied for fourth after the first category, the clean and jerk, with respective lifts of 100 kg.
In spite of Srisurat’s eight-kilogram lead going into the second round, the Thai lifter was not predicted to pose a serious threat to the favourites.
Escobar Guerrero of Ecuador was the first to declare her challenge for the gold medal after she lifted 123 pounds in the clean and jerk.
When compared to Srisurat’s 127-kilogram deadlift, the 126-kilogram deadlift of Japan’s Mikiko Andoh was clearly inadequate. However, if she wanted to keep her medal hopes alive, she would have to do more than that.
After a failed attempt to lift 129 kg due to an infraction on her locked elbows, Kuo returned barely 90 seconds later to accomplish the lift with pinpoint accuracy.
After the snatch leader Kuo failed on her third attempt at 130 kilos, the pressure was on for the Taiwanese to beat her score by nine kilogrammes and overtake her.
Sirikaew had the chance to steal Kuo’s gold after she failed on her third try to complete the jerk at an Olympic record 139 kilogrammes. The 26-year-old tried her hardest, but she had to settle for second place and a silver medal.
