The Canadian duo skated to the songs “El Tango de Roxanne” and “Come What May” from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, respectively, and the audience went wild when they finished.

Moir brushed aside the barrier and left the rink with a comedic, exuberant flourish after performing an innovative performance full of smooth, effortless lifts.

Absolute Gold Standard

Totaling 205.28, Papadakis and Cizeron received a 123.35 for their free dance. Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata is often used as the musical backdrop for ice dances, and they gave a fresh take on it.

Skating to Paradise by Coldplay, the Shibutanis showed off their expert skills. The sibling duo impressed the judges with their sharp edges, pointed toes, and great carriage, but their aggregate score of 192.59, including 114.86 in the free dance, was only good enough for bronze in the exceptional competition.

It’s Like a Dream Come True, Almost

Virtue has stated that this is not where she expected her career to go. Definitely not, she exclaimed. I did, however, wish to accompany Scott’s brother Danny Moir to the Olympics in first grade, so I guess I’m not too far off.

I’m really excited about this contest. There has never been anything quite like that performance. Thanks to our team’s preparation, we’re ready to handle this. Each and every one of these moments is being soaked up by us.

According to Moir, this victory was very different from the gold they won in Vancouver. This is a bold statement, but in 2010 we were obviously in our own country.

What happened then is something neither of us will ever forget. However, eight years has made a huge difference in who we have become. We are two very different kinds of athletes.

Still, we take great pleasure in our work. This time it hits close to home. We did it because we cared about one another. We skated the whole distance with each other in our minds and hearts. It’s a great feeling to be able to help others in this way.

Whether or whether they had decided to retire was not addressed. If this is the end, Moir and I are both very happy about it. Expect an announcement from us in the next few days, but for now we’d want to take some time to bask in the glow of our success and figure out what comes next.
